Michelle Young Murder: Lap top Computer

I have looked on several different sites for a copy of the search warrant that references the laptop computer taken from Jason's SUV. The information below was found on News 14's website. This is the closest I have found to the information contained in that warrant.

"An inventory list of the items taken from Jason Young's SUV include a knife, two cell phones, a ladies wallet with keys attached, a laptop computer, prescription medication and three dated receipts."

I didn't see the laptop listed on the SW for the Ford. Not sure why that is.

The computer was seized after a search of a 2004 Ford Explorer registered to Jason Young, the victim’s husband. Jason had driven the vehicle from 5108 Birchleaf Drive, Raleigh to Virginia. He left on November 2, 2006 and returned to Raleigh on November 3, 2006 in the Ford Explorer after being notified of his wife’s death. The vehicle contains papers identifying Jason Young as the owner of the vehicle.

The Wake County Sheriff’s Office seized the Ford Explorer shortly after Jason Young returned to Raleigh on November 3, 2006. Attempts have been made to have Jason Young assist in this investigation. He has refused to cooperate with the Wake County Sheriff’s Office.

Access to the computer’s hard drive will be used for the purpose stated above to include but not limited to:

• Obtaining financial records
• Correspondence with insurance companies
• Information to corroborate with witness’ statements
• To locate evidence to be compared with evidence already collected

Based on this affiant’s training and experience, it is believed the preceding facts establish probable cause to believe that the above-described items be located within the Dell Latitude model D620 laptop… will aid in the investigation and identifications of the possible participants in the crime of Homicide N.C.G.S. 14-17, occurring at 5108 Birchleaf Drive, in Raleigh, NC.

For these reasons, this affiant respectfully requests this warrant.

Why this blog?

I started following this case from the moment that I heard about it. I would check the local news sites everyday to see if there was any progress in the case. I was disappointed and disheartened when the media reported Jason was having a relationship. I couldn't believe another husband would choose the same path as Scott Peterson. I went to the Court TV message boards to see if there was anything to learn that wasn’t in the media. I went there thinking Jason was guilty.

I started checking the board every so often for anything new that wasn’t being reported. I also wanted to know what others were thinking in regards to what happened to Michelle. There is so much information that is not known to the public. This information comes from so called "insiders". These are friends or someone who knows a friend of Michelle and Jason's. At some point “rumors” these insiders were reporting became known as “fact.”

I decided to start researching where some of the “rumors” originated and how much weight they might deserve. I started this blog to keep track of the facts and insider information I compiled. I am a little obsessive compulsive with a need for organization. My intent was to collect the information and organize it for reference purposes. I tried to be as objective as possible.

On occasion I have neglected a few things because of this case. It affects me because I am a mom and it makes me extremely sad that Cassidy will not have her mom there for her as she grows up.

At this point I am no longer thinking Jason is absolutely guilty. I have read all of the speculation as to why he is guilty and there are too many “holes” and unknowns in the theories and I am not there yet. There are many with statistics on their side that will disagree with me. I am still on the fence and eventually I will have to jump to one side. I need more data to make that leap.

I am nobody. I am just a mom that became interested in what happened to Michelle. I don’t pretend to be a writer so I apologize if I am not eloquent or grammatically correct. I just have the desire for Michelle’s killer to be brought to justice. For Cassidy’s sake I hope it is not Jason. For her I have to give Jason the benefit of the doubt. I have no vested interest in him personally – only the desire that Cassidy have at least one of her parents to guide her through life. And if he is guilty I hope he is punished to the fullest extent of the law.
