The "Facts"

Here is a list of facts from news reports, mostly from WRAL in Raleigh, NC. I have also included some "insider" information. Information that was obtained by posters that can easily be verified by another have been included here. In regards to the purse/gift - so many posters claim it to be true I will accept it also. This information is highlighted in blue so the reader can determine for themselves what weight it deserves.

  • Jason left Raleigh on Nov 2 for Virginia to attend a business meeting on Nov 3. Michelle stayed at home with a friend until about 10:30pm. A CTV Poster, confirms Hampton Inn Stay in Hillsville, VA.
  • Another poster from CTV confirmed a stop by Jason in Duffield, Va at a Get it Market sometime on Nov 3.
  • Meredith received a call (voicemail) from Jason asking her to go to his house to pick up a document.
  • Several CTV "Insider" posters confirmed the document was about a gift (a purse) for Michelle.
  • Meredith found Michelle's body beaten to death on the floor of the master bedroom at 1:30 on Nov 3, 2006. Cassidy and Mr G were found to be unharmed.
  • According to the 911 call Meredith said there were blood prints "everywhere."
  • Search Warrants indicate there was blood splatter on the walls, and lamp in the room.
  • Authorities estimate her time of death to be between midnight and 6am.
  • Jason was notified of his wife's death at his parents' home in Brevard, NC.
  • On Wednesday, Nov 8, 2006, Jason Young responded to a court order that he give fingerprint evidence to the City County Bureau of Identification. He is not identified as a suspect according to WCSO.
  • Several people have submitted fingerprint evidence as part of the investigation, but authorities have not commented on how many people or who they were.
  • Jason Young talked briefly with investigators the day his wife's body was found.
  • Jason and his family went to Meredith's house to retrieve Cassidy.
  • Police seized Jason's Ford Explorer and its contents from Meredith's house.
  • Jason hired an attorney and has not cooperated with authorities.
  • After 13 days of investigative work the house is released.
  • On November 30, Michelle's sister-in-law found a tooth near the bed while cleaning up in the bedroom.
  • Jason Young had a relationship with Michelle Money, of Ocoee, Fla., for about three months before Michelle's death. Money, said she and Jason Young had corresponded daily via phone and e-mail.
  • Sherriff Donnie Harrison has said that they have conducted more than 100 interviews and followed up on at least 65 leads. Investigators have also traveled across NC and three other states.
  • Authorities found two spots of what appears to be blood in a vehicle belonging to the couple. No confirmation has been made if it was indeed blood.
  • Authorities say Michelle was covered by a substantial life insurance policy.
  • Michelle and Jason purchased their home in the Enchanted Oaks subdivision south of Raleigh in May 2005 for $379,000. They also owned a townhouse on Arete Way where they had lived for two years after their marriage in 2003.
  • The couple married on Oct. 10, 2003. Their daughter, Cassidy, was born March 29, 2004.
  • Authorities believe the couple were having financial difficulties.
  • The autopsy report shows she died from blunt force trauma to the head after being hit several times, but she also had injuries to her neck consistent with manual strangulation.
  • The autopsy report also states a hair was found on her hand.
  • Witnesses indicate Michelle was upset about a trip Jason took to California.
  • Michelle would have turnd 30 years old on February 17, 2007.
  • Michelle was seeing a therapist named Kimball Jane Sargent.
  • The court found "That Kimball Jane Sargent has information to which is relevant to the investigation of Michelle Fisher Young's homicide."
  • On April 7, 2007 a Search Warrant was issued for a mallet found on the edge of the front lawn of the Young's home by a neighbor cutting her grass. CCBI does not think it is part of the case.
  • 6 months and no arrest. Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison said the case is complex and investigators don't want to rush to judgement.
  • ADA Becky Holt told WRAL, "The Sheriff's department has been very careful, as I understand it, in keeping an open mind and not narrowing it and coming up with one suspect."
  • A sexual assault kit was not performed at the time of autopsy, even though it was requested by investigators. Young was fully clothed when her body arrived at the Chief Medical Examiner's office. A pathology sheet did request that a sexual assault kit be done to rule out the possiblity of a sexual assault as motive for her murder.
  • In June of 2007 relatives began moving items from the Young home to prepare it for sale.
  • In early July the 4 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath home, which sits on 1.8 acres was listed for $424,900.
  • In mid-July Progress Energy offers a $10,000 reward for information leading to a conviction in Michelle's Death.
  • Donnie Harrison - "There may be somebody that's a little reluctant of telling us something. Maybe this money will inspire them to do so."
